November 4, 2015Getting to New Orleans from Shreveport will soon be much easier. Louisiana-based GLO announced today they will offer non-stop flights between Shreveport and New Orleans International Airport beginning November 15th. GLO will operate the non-stop flight with 30-seat Saab-A340B aircrafts.
“I believe this is a step in the right direction for increasing air connections which are critical to providing services for the military and corporate businesses in North Louisiana,” said Shreveport Mayor Ollie S. Tyler.
“GLO’s announcement today is one of several air service initiatives the Airport Authority is working on to improve options for customers in the Ark-La-Tex region,” said Dr. Mary Jackson, Chairwoman of the Shreveport Airport Authority. “The passage of the hotel-motel proposition in November could further accelerate the efforts to bring more air travel options to customers using Shreveport Regional Airport.”
“For more than a decade, Ark-La-Tex residents have asked for direct flights from Shreveport to New Orleans. The team at GLO has invested more than four years of work, due diligence and financial resources to make this a reality,” said Bill Cooksey, C.M., Interim Director of Airports. “Now it’s up to Ark-La-Tex residents to help this new service be successful by choosing to fly GLO from Shreveport Regional Airport.”
Shreveport has a very long history of having non-stop service to New Orleans, most recently on U.S. Airways which ended in 2004. From New Orleans, GLO will also be flying to Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in Little Rock and to Memphis International Airport.
