The proposal is for a 1.5% increase to the current hotel-motel bed tax.
Shreveport-Bossier’s average daily hotel rate is currently $75.16. The proposed 1.5% hotel tax would mean, on average, that each visitor would pay an additional $1.10 per room per night.
Even with the increase, Shreveport-Bossier will still have the lowest average daily hotel rate of any major Louisiana city and will remain price competitive for leisure, meetings, sports, and group tourism.
Funds generated from the additional 1.5% occupancy tax would be divided evenly between three organizations:
Regional Air Service Alliance (RASA)
Independence Bowl Foundation
Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission
