American Airlines announces non-stop flights to Charlotte from Shreveport

American Airlines will be providing non-stop flights from the Shreveport Regional Airport to Charlotte, North Carolina, this fall, according to the airport’s website.

The flights will begin August 22. American already flies out of Shreveport Regional, with service to Dallas-Fort Worth.

Air service to Charlotte could benefit Shreveport travelers because the North Carolina city was a US Air hub. Now that American has merged with US Air, it’s an American hub. For Shreveport travelers, transiting through Charlotte could save the trouble of first flying west to Dallas.

Charlotte is the most populous city in North Carolina with almost 800,000 residents.

The service will be supported by funding from the Regional Air Service Alliance and the revenue generated from the hotel/motel proposition.
